Create a Successful Marketing Plan

Whether you are a small company or a large corporation one of the most important keys to success is in preparing a marketing plan. Imagine trying to go on a trip to Disneyland, without knowing where it is, how much money it will require, and how long it will take you to get there. You can imagine the frustration!

Now, if you carefully plan your trip, knowing which roads to take and the cost to visit the park - your trip will be much more enjoyable.

If you have a top-knotch product or service, without a plan in place, you will flounder for direction and waste a lot of time, energy and money. You can see that a well thought out marketing plan, which is separate and apart from a business plan, is an essential part to the success of your company.

The plan should contain data and specifics pertaining to your company's goals, the product or service you're offering, how you intend to market it and a means for measuring your success. Generally, larger companies create plans that are extremely comprehensive in size and nature while smaller companies will do just as well with a 5 to 10 page strategy.

Also, your plan will change as the world changes, so refer to your plan regularly and make modifications as needed to keep your company on track.

Your Plan should include:

  • An Objective: overall purpose and objective of your company/product.
  • Targeting: how you will plan to target your prospective customers.
  • Strategy: effective marketing strategies for your product promotion.
  • Time Frame: Your goals of where you want to be from six months to a year.

If you obviously see that something isn't working, rethink your marketing strategies. Primarily you want customers to look to you when they are ready to buy, so it is crucial to keep your marketing plan updated and refined.

A well developed Marketing Plan will be your roadmap to success and both keep you on track and help maximize your outcomes.
